Vanity Fair Features The Nixon Tapes
August 2014 Issue on Newsstands July 15

The August 2014 issue of Vanity Fair
features an excerpt from the upcoming book, The Nixon Tapes:
1971-1972, by Douglas Brinkley and Luke A. Nichter. The
version available
online is only a portion of the longer excerpt that appears
in the print version of the magazine, covering pages 68-76.
The excerpt focuses on President Nixon's views
on gay people, women, Henry Kissinger, the Kennedys, and a
number of conversations having to do with U.S. foreign policy at
the time, especially towards China, the Soviet Union, and the
Vietnam War. The
online version also features audio from
http://nixontapes.org.
The print verson of the magazine goes on sale
July 15, just two weeks before publication of the book, on July
29. The Vanity Fair excerpt includes only a small
fraction of the tapes featured in the book, which provide
enormous insight into the day-to-day life of the Nixon Oval
Office.
